“Having gone through a career change myself and having found something that absolutely suits me, I believe taking time for self-assessment is essential. I want to help you gain the clarity and perspective you need to overcome any obstacles, emotional or logistical, and move forward in your life. Through self-assessment, you will discover the language to effectively communicate your strengths and your story, increase your self-confidence and determine the best direction for you — both in your work and personal life.”

My name is Sheila Weisblatt and I am a career counselor, coach and consultant. I work with clients through my business, Momentum Career Consulting. I also share a private practice with the Career & Personal Development Institute in San Francisco’s Financial District. I work with individuals and organizations, focusing on work related issues, including career, performance, leadership development and quality of life.

Given that life is often messy and complicated, my work with individuals through all life stages is complex. Each person brings his/her unique personal and professional background and experiences to the session. We work together holistically connecting the professional with the personal.

Our work together might focus on issues like:

  • creating a plan to make a career change while continuing your current work;
  • developing realistic time-frames and plans so you can feel your progress;
  • exploring strategies for you to be more visible and effective in your workplace;
  • identifying the best way for you to feel successful at work and at home.

I have worked with employees at Fortune 500 Companies as well as consulted with managers to develop career development programs for their teams. I think that when a manager understands the value of career development and offers it for their team through coaching, everyone benefits.

I have been quoted in the SF Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News and more recently on the website ConcordiaOnline.net on career, management and the workplace issues.

I had an opportunity to teach graduate-level counseling students at San Francisco State University, integrating practice with counseling theory. In addition, I was a co-coordinator of the Bay Area Chapter of the California Career Counseling Association for 4 years.

Over 25 years ago, I made a major career change from the banking industry to become a career counselor. I have a master’s degree in career counseling from San Francisco State University; I am a National Certified Counselor and Master Career Counselor.

“The focus of my work is to help my clients gain clarity about themselves and provide some perspectives about the process of making a change. I believe that by emphasizing both clarity and perspective, change is possible.”
