National Certified Counselor
Master Career Counselor

“Having gone through a career change myself and having found something that absolutely suits me, I am a firm believer in the ’self-assessment process.’ I believe we each have our own particular fears and obstacles that seem to discourage us from making changes in our work-life. I want to help you gain the perspective you need to overcome obstacles and move forward in your life. Through self-assessment, you will discover the language to communicate your strengths, increase your self-confidence, and determine the best direction to integrate your work into your life.”

My name is Sheila Weisblatt and I am a career counselor, coach and consultant. I work with clients through my business, Momentum Career Consulting. I also share a private practice with the Career & Personal Development Institute in San Francisco’s Financial District. I work with both individuals and organizations, focusing on work related issues, including career, performance, leadership development and quality of life.  I support my clients through the process of making positive changes in their work/life and help them find effective solutions to work around barriers to making a change, both emotional and logistical.

I enjoy my work, helping individuals who are in their late 20’s, through the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. I find working with individuals through all of these life stages to be a fascinating and rewarding experience.  I believe that each individual brings themselves to the session and their is a natural confluence between personal issues and professional goals.  And each stage in life offers a unique set of circumstances to consider when making a change.  Whether wanting to start a family, go back to school or consider retirement, there is always the complications of  life that makes my work with my clients so interesting.

I have worked with employees at Sun Microsystems, Hewlett Packard and American Express. In my work with organizations, I always clarify the needs of the organization and the employees involved. I enjoy both the consultative process with Human Resource Managers and the direct counseling and coaching work with employees.

When they were still opened, I regularly provided counseling and training services at two established Bay Area non-profit career centers, Alumnae Resources and the Career Action Center.  I have been quoted in the SF Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News and InfoWorld on career, management and the workplace issues.

I have had the opportunity to teach graduate-level counseling students at San Francisco State University. I found teaching counseling students gratifying; integrating practice with counseling theory. In addition, I had the opportunity to be a co-coordinator of the Bay Area Chapter of the California Career Counseling Association for 4 years. I continue to have peripheral involvement with the local chapter.

Over 20 years ago, I made a major career change from the banking industry to become a career counselor. I have a master’s degree in career counseling from San Francisco State University, am a National Certified Counselor and Master Career Counselor.

“The focus of my work is to help my clients gain clarity about themselves and provide some perspectives about the process of making a change. I believe that by emphasizing both clarity and perspective, change is possible.”
