Services for individuals are typically conducted in person or by phone for a 1 hour session; 30 minute sessions by phone are also available.

  • career counseling: working together in depth to clarify and understand the changes you want to make, develop a plan to achieve your goals.
  • career coaching: working together to help you reach a defined goal.
  • small group facilitation: working with a 3-6 individuals on common issues.

Making any kind of change may incorporate 1 to 4 phases, including:

  • self-assessment
  • information gathering
  • marketing strategies
  • career sustainability

1. Self-assessment focuses on:

  • your values – identify what is important to you in your life and your work;
  • your skills – identify the skills that you most enjoy using and those you would like to develop;
  • your personality – identify the work and environment that best fits you;
  • your interests – identify what captures your interest, what you enjoy being involved in;
  • your experiences – identify the aspects of your work experiences that you want to continue doing and those you want to eliminate;
  • obstacles – identify your internal and external roadblocks to achieving your goals;
  • options – identify the occupations, industries or companies you want to research.

2. Information Gathering focuses on:

  • connecting in person with current contacts and establishing new relationships to help you learn more about occupations, industries or companies;
  • connecting with people through social networks, like linkedin and facebook, to enhance your visibility, increase your network and establish leads to potential jobs;
  • researching career-related information and trends trade journals and business media; on websites/blogs that focus on career information; professional associations or specific company sites.

3. Marketing Strategies focus on:

  • networking strategies for visibility; to develop leads; for the opportunity to communicate who you are and what you want;
  • marketing materials which includes your resume, cover letter, or marketing letter to effectively communicate your experience and qualifications;
  • interview preparation to clearly communicate your strengths; your experiences; how you perform your work;
  • salary negotiation to achieve your appropriate compensation.

4. Career Sustainability focuses on:

  • managing your work-life, including setting long term and short term goals;
  • identifying your criteria to create quality in your life;
  • on-going learning for motivation and to stay abreast of industry changes;
  • managing relationships inside your organization, including upper management, peers and staff;
  • managing your network for visibility and credibility.
